Keith Donald is a renowned saxophone and clarinet player who has played with some of the biggest names in Irish music, including Van Morrison, Ronnie Drew, Moving Hearts and Christy Moore.
Keith’s play, NewBliss, tells the story of his professional life, from his first public performance on BBC Radio at the age of ten to playing high profile gigs in North America, Africa, Europe and Ireland.
In the show, Keith recounts the highs and lows of his six-decade long career, half of which was spent under the shadow of alcoholism. It is an insight into the life of a musician, from pit orchestra gigs to pay the bills, all the way through to sold out stadium tours.
NewBliss was written during 2014 and is a one-man show consisting of verse, prose and music. Keith’s journey from addiction to redemption is an inspirational story, complete with both laughter and lessons.
